Adel Abdallah is the Program Manager of the Water Data Exchange (WaDE) Program and the lead architect of the WaDE 2.0 Data System which includes the Western States Water Data Access and Analysis Tool (WestDAAT). Adel oversees WaDE’s development, proposal writing and grant reporting, outreach, and coordination with the Western States Water Council member states and Western States Federal Agency Support Team (WestFAST) agencies, universities, contractors, and collaborators, especially at the Internet of Water Coalition. Adel is a Certified Public Manager and ScrumMaster for agile software development.
 
 
Adel joined the Council in June 2017 as a Hydroinformatics intern and started a full-time position as Senior Hydroinformatics Specialist in January 2019 and then was promoted to WaDE Program Manager in July 2019.  Adel has a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on Hydroinformatics from Utah State University. His expertise is in designing data models for water management data to reconcile semantic and syntactic differences and streamline their access and analysis.
 

Adel grew up in Palestine and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from An-Najah National University, Nablus. He is very conscious of the value of water and appreciates the outdoors. After working in research and consulting for a year and half, he went on to earn his master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Utah State University with a research emphasis on water and energy linkages in U.S. households. Adel enjoyed water research and pursued a Ph.D. He was a visiting graduate student at the Urban Water Research Group, University of Utah, from 2015-2018.
